Pierre Gabris was born and raised in the so-called “watch valley” of Switzerland. After successfully studying mechanical engineering and production management at the Swiss Institute of Technology, he went to UCLA in California to specialize in material sciences. There, surrounded by other young engineers, he realized that many of them were leaving the industry to work either for internet and high tech companies, or for companies active in the financial industry. Pierre Gabris moved back to Switzerland 2 years later for family reasons and started to work at UBS where he dealt primarily with a large Swiss watch company that he has been advising through the years.
Several years later, Pierre Gabris moved to Swiss private bank Lombard Odier where he, with a team of 40, set up a brokerage business that was selling Swiss and European equities to institutional investors around the world. In his role of sell side analyst, Pierre Gabris accompanied a number of young start-ups to prepare them for a listing on the stock markets and participated in a number of IPOs and secondary offerings. Some 100+ roadshows later and after receiving his CEFA, Mr. Gabris decided to move to NYC to get his MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School.
After graduating with honors and having met a large number of friends and future business colleagues in NYC, Mr. Gabris moved back to Switzerland and rejoined Lombard Odier. This time, he was this integrated into the Zurich team of the bank as a private banker. A number of entrepreneurs and wealthy individuals that he met over the years asked him to manage their assets and take care of their family affairs. After raising a significant amount of assets for the bank, Mr. Gabris decided to leave and become an entrepreneur. With 2 partners, he started his own independent asset management company with a focus on independency, transparency and performance.
